S-SARE Welcomes New AC Member
Southern SARE welcomes a new Administrative Council member.
Say hello to Saied Mostaghimi. Mostaghimi was recently appointed to serve as the 1862 Research representative. The term will run for three years.
Mostaghimi is director of the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station, and associate dean for research and graduate studies in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech. In 2010, he was reappointed as the H.E. and Elizabeth F. Alphin Professor of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Mostaghimi's research career focuses on the conservation of natural resources and the minimization of non-point-source pollution. His research programs have concentrated on the design of water quality monitoring systems; the integration of modeling and monitoring for assessing the impacts of human activities on water quality; and the development and/or validation of computer simulation models for use by agencies involved in water resources planning and management.
Mostaghimi has received awards from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ASABE) and Soil and Water Conservation Society. He has also received the university’s Alumni Award for Excellence in Graduate Advising and Alumni Award for Excellence in Outreach, as well as the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Flagship Award and the ASABE Fellow Award.
Mostaghimi received his bachelor of science degree from Pahlavi University in Iran and master’s degree and PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
